Early reviews:
Cindy Eastman, as editor of Grief Like Yours, has undertaken the herculean task of delving into her own grief journeys so that she might bring us this collection of heartfelt stories and poems, helping us to feel less alone in all our losses. Hard-won and honest wisdom rings out from every page of this necessary book, and from the very beginning, we know we are held in the gentle, capable hands of people who care. As Eastman writes in her Introduction, "Grief misplaces things. Dates, places, and people shuffle around and show up where they are least expected." Each of the pieces in Grief Like Yours shows us how to live with this inevitable shuffling and re-ordering of our lives in the wake of any sorrow, lightening the load of any grieving heart.
--James Crews, author of Turning Toward Grief: Reflections on Life, Loss & Appreciation

Grief Like Yours brings together powerful, unflinching personal stories of life after loss. From sudden tragedies and slow goodbyes to the unexpected moments of comfort and connection, these essays and poems illuminate the complex, often isolating journey of grief. In the shared experiences of others, readers will find companionship, understanding, and the quiet assurance that even in sorrow, they are not alone.
—Dr. Virginia A. Simpson, Bereavement Care Specialist and award-winning author of The Space Between: A Memoir of Mother-Daughter Love at the End of Life

Everyday Grief: An anthology for the voices of grief.
Picture
In all my fantastical flights of imagination about what it would be like to be A Writer, creating or editing an anthology never showed up. I’ve submitted—and been accepted—to a few, but producing my own never occurred to me until almost a year ago. Since then I’ve been tiptoeing around it; it felt like an important project, but I had absolutely no idea how to begin it. So, naturally, without any information, planning or connections, I’m going to just do it—isn’t that what the slogan says?
It's called Everyday Grief and the idea for it came from my feeling of being under an avalanche of loss—of all kinds—and not really knowing how to deal with it. The different kinds of loss started to reveal themselves as separate but equal experiences that require energy and attention and not just all lumped together as “I’m sad.” Grief demanded my attention and I was exhausted. And then I realized that I was experiencing the kind of grief that doesn’t go away—it is integrated into who I am and will impact my life from now on.
I will live it every day.

Please Note: All submissions were reviewed and considered. The need for clarity, avoidance of repetition, and available space
guided our selections. Be assured, your contribution was respected and valued.
The publisher made the final determination of the selected pieces.
